Fully Involved Structure Brings Multiple Companies to Farmville

On May 19th, 2012 at 4:20pm, Farmville Communications dispatched Company 1 (Farmville Fire) and Company 2(Hampden-Sydney Fire) to a report of a structure fire, with flames visible through the roof on Park Avenue in the Town of Farmville. Company 1 requested a third company, Company 7(Rice Fire) be added to the assignment. On arrival, Command was established by Farmville Fire 102( Asst. Chief A. Goss). He reported a single story structure with fire through the roof. All surrounding roads were shut down by Farmville Police Department to allow apparatus to enter the scene. At 4:34pm, Engine 2-2 arrived on scene, followed by Engine 2-1 at 4:43pm. Rice units Engine 7-3 and Tanker 7-6 arrived at 4:41pm. Initial knockdown was complete at 4:36pm, with some hotspots still present, and a good amount of overhaul to be done. Firefighters from Company 4(Prospect Fire), Company 3(Pamplin Fire), Company 5 (Meherrin Fire) and Company 6 (Darlington Heights Fire) were on scene to assist. Command requested Air 50 be brought from Company 2 to assist with refilling bottles at 4:49pm. At 5:14pm, Hampden-Sydney 205(2Lt. Cooper) notified dispatch that one male resident had been displaced by the fire, and to contact Red Cross to make arraingements for him. At 6:35pm, Hampden-Sydney 202(Asst Chief Crawley) advised the scene was under control, and they would be on scene cleaning up and getting trucks back in service. At 7:25pm Command was terminated and all units returned to service. Units on scene were Engine1-1, Truck 1, Engine 2-1, Engine 2-2, Engine 7-3, Tanker 7-6, Prince Edward Rescue 13, Air 50, and multiple units from Farmville Police Department. Thanks to personell from all 7 Prince Edward fire companies in assisting with the incident.
