Mon. Nov 5th 2012
On November 5th, 2012 at 4:48pm, Company 5(Meherrin Fire) and Company 2(Hampden-Sydney Fire) were notified of a reported fully involved structure fire with one person still inside. With an en route time of 2 minutes, Engine 2-1 was on the road towards the incident. While en route, Meherrin also marked up two trucks. a third company, Company 6(Darlington Heights Fire) notified dispatch that they had crews available, as well as a crew for Air 50. The first arriving apparatus, Squad 5, reported that the structure was not fully involved, but had one side of the trailer on fire. They initiated a quick entry team through the side door to put a knockdown on the fire. The next arriving apparatus, Engine 2-1 made entry through the front door. HS204(1Lt. Gordon) and HS205(2Lt. Cooper) made entry and replaced the crew from Meherrin. There was still working fire conditions in the bathroom of the residence. With a well coordinated effort between Company 2 and Company 5, the structure was saved with minimal structural damage to any area outside of the area of fire. The scene was marked under control and units cleared at 6:15pm. Good job to those involved with this incident.
