Structure Fire In Hampden-Sydney Brings 4 Companies

On January 5th, 2013 at 12:40am, Company 2(Hampden-Sydney Fire) and Company 5(Meherrin Fire) were dispatched to a report of a structure fire with heavy smoke showing from under the eaves of the house. The caller advised there were no cars in the driveway and no visible fire. While crews were en route to the station, HS201(Chief Draper) asked for a 3rd Company to be added to the incident. Company 1(Farmville Fire) was notified, and had crews en route. The first arriving apparatus, Squad 5, reported heavy smoke and fire through the roof of the structure. He requested 4th due to the assignment, as well as Air50. Company 6(Darlington Heights Fire) were called and had crews en route. After knockdown and overhaul, Command was terminated and crews returned to their respective stations at 3:31am. Units on scene: Engine 2-2; Squad 5, Tanker 5-5, Rescue 5-8; Tanker 1-5, Utility 1; Tanker 6-5 and Air 50.
