Single Vehicle Crash on Darlington Heights Road

On January 14th, 2013 at 7:35pm, Hampden-Sydney Fire was dispatched to a report of a single vehicle crash in the area of 8100 Darlington Heights Road. It was reported that the car stuck a power pole and then went into the trees. The caller also reported that there were 2 people with injuries. Engine 2-2 arrived on scene at 7:47pm, and Command was established by HS204(1Lt. Gordon). He advised the car was off of the roadway, and a power pole snapped, with power lines dangerously close to the roadway. One lane was blocked off to prevent any other incident. Prince Edward Rescue 13 arrived on scene and treated 1 patient, and 1 patient refusal. Utility 2-8 arrived on scene, and traffic control was started. Southside Electric was notified at 7:56pm and gave an estimated time to the scene of 1 hour. While waiting for Southside Electric, the tow truck arrived and was staged until the power was cut off. Southside Electric arrived on scene at 9:33pm. After the power was turned off, the vehicle was removed. Command was terminated and units returned to station at 11:15pm.
