Commercial Structure Fire at La Parota

On Saturday, February 23rd, 2013, at 4:53am Company 1(Farmville Fire), Company 2(Hampden-Sydney Fire) and Company 7(Rice Fire) were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the vicinity of La Parota Mexican Restaurant. Dispatch advised that there was heavy smoke and fire showing through the roof. Once dispatched, HS201(Chief Draper) requested a 4th company, Company 4(Prospect Fire) to be put on assignment for the call. First unit on scene, Farmville Engine 1-1 reported the structure was fully involved, and La Parota Command was established by Farmville 104(Capt. B. Saxtan). E1-1 set up on a hydrant on the D-side of the structure. Shortly thereafter, Hampden-Sydney Truck 2 arrived on scene. Truck 2 set up on the A-side of the structure. E1-1 and Truck 2 started the initial fire attack. Hampden-Sydney Engine 2-2 arrived and set up on a hydrant at Clark Street and Main Street to supply Truck 2. Prospect Engine 4-1 took the C-side of the structure, along with Farmville Truck 1. Rice Engine 7-2 started fire attack on the B-side. Prince Edward Rescue 1 was requested to assist in refilling bottles. After a lengthy fire attack, the situation was marked under control at 7:50am. Units on scene: Farmville Engine 1-1, Truck 1, Chief 1, Utility 1. Hampden-Sydney Engine 2-2, Truck 2. Rice Engine 7-2. Prospect Engine 4-1, Engine 4-2, Auxillary 4. Prince Edward Rescue 1, Medic 13. Thanks to all of the fire companies, police agencies, PEVRS and the power company for their assistance.
